Having problems setting up a script? Follow these steps to get help quickly.

Getting Help - Step by Step

Please follow these steps in order to receive help the fastest:

1 Read the README File

With all major scripts comes a README file. Before asking for help, read this file thoroughly. It explains:

  • How to configure each variable
  • Where to locate files on your server
  • Important setup information

README files are available in hypertext format.

2 Check the FAQ

The Frequently Asked Questions database contains answers to common questions. Read this before contacting support - if your question is here, we'll just point you back to it.

3 Search the Mailing List Archive

The Hypermail Archive of Scripts-Help and WWW-Scripts contains many answered questions. Since these have already been answered, you'll get faster results than waiting for email responses.

4 Ask on the Support Forum

The Support Forum covers over 20 different topics for setup, installation and configuration of scripts.

5 Send Email to Scripts-Help

As a last resort, send a detailed help message. When contacting support, include:

  • Variable configuration block from the top of each script
  • Platform you're running the scripts on
  • Any error messages from the script or error_log file
  • Any other relevant information

Join the Help Team

The Scripts Archive Help Team consists of volunteers who answer help requests. Without their help, new scripts wouldn't get developed.

If you'd like to join the team and help other users, please fill out the Comment Form and mention your interest in joining the Help Team.
